In 1890, the Surrey Cricket Club at the Oval Ground lifted its first trophy of the inaugural county championship. Indeed, it was the most prestigious trophy of English domestic cricket during that time.

England’s medium fast bowler George Alfred Lohmann was the highest wicket-taker of the tournament by taking 113 wickets for Surrey.

Eight different cricket clubs participated in the 1890 County Championship which included:

2. Memorable Performances of T20 Blast 2023:

Surrey has been competitive in T20 Blast 2023 at the Oval which includes their best memorable performances. On 26th May 2023, Sean Abbott’s unbeaten 110 runs from 41 balls (including 4 fours and 11 sixes) steered Surrey to a total of 223-5 in 20 overs and secured a 41-run victory against Kent.

Once again, Surrey created a sensation against Glamorgan on 20th June 2023 by recording the highest score of 238-5 at home, which was indeed their highest score of the T20 Blast 2023. Moreover, they secured a massive victory of 81 runs in front of their home crowd. 

Two days later (22nd June 2023), the Surrey Cricket Club at the Oval Ground broke that record and smashed their highest T20 score of 252-7 in 20 overs against Middlesex. However, they lost to their opponents by 7 wickets and 3 balls remaining. Nevertheless, it proved to be the best entertaining contest in cricket history.
